چکیده

Tomatoes are a high-value crop all over the world, including Ethiopia. Tomato ripening is highly dependent on ethylene action as climacteric fruit, making this fruit perishable in short period of time. Pre-storage treatments such CaCl 2 and edible coatings essential for preserving quality after harvest extending shelf life. The purpose study was to determine effect tomato postharvest experiment set up form Complete Randomized Design with three replications. results revealed that both had significant (p˂0.01) life quality. Fruits treated 6% coated aloe Vera gel beeswax significantly reduced physiological weight loss (PLW), percentage decay, TSS, pH juice, ascorbic acid during storage, increased fruits by 15 days when compared control. combination (6 percent AG BW coating) resulted highest marketability, firmness, levels storage period. According findings study, 6 or bees wax can be recommended Shanty terms Keywords: pre life, tomato, DOI: 10.7176/ALST/89-02 Publication date: August 31 st 2021

Cloning and Expression Profiling of the Polycomb Gene, Retinoblastoma-related Protein from Tomato Solanum lycopersicum L.

Cell cycle regulation mechanisms appear to be conserved throughout eukaryotic evolution. One of the important proteins involved in the regulation of cell cycle processes is retinoblastoma-related protein (RBR), which is a negative regulator of cell cycle progression, controlling the G1/S transition in plants and animals. In this study, we present the cloning and genomic structure of a putative ...

Sterol composition of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) seed oil: the effect of cultivar

The effect of cultivar on sterol composition of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) seed oil from three industrial cultivars (Principe Borghese, Rebelion F1 and San Marzano) grown in Calabria Region (Southern Italy) was investigated. Sterol composition is presented both as percentage on the total sterol content (%) and as an absolute value (mg/kg). Rebelion F1 produced the worst seed oil in terms ...

The Effect of UV-C Irradiation on Rot Control and Postharvest Quality of Greenhouse Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum cv. Newton)

Tomato is one of the most important horticultural crops that is corruptible and susceptible to microbial contamination. In this study, the effect of UV-C at five different irradiation intensities (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 kJ/m2) on rot control and postharvest quality of greenhouse tomato was investigated. Tomato (cv. Newton) fruits were harvested from a commercial greenhouse at vine-ripe stage and aft...

Identification and characterization of histone deacetylases in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

Histone acetylation and deacetylation at the N-terminus of histone tails play crucial roles in the regulation of eukaryotic gene activity. Histone acetylation and deacetylation are catalyzed by histone acetyltransferases and histone deacetylases (HDACs), respectively. A growing number of studies have demonstrated the importance of histone deacetylation/acetylation on genome stability, transcrip...

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) using the expansin 10 (CsEXP10) gene.

The cucumber expansin 10 (CsEXP10) gene was previously cloned from young cucumber fruits but its role has not been defined. To determine the role of this gene in plant growth and development, a CsEXP10 gene transformation system was established. The open reading frame of the gene was inserted behind the CaMV35S promoter of vector pCAMBIA1301, and the construct was introduced into tomato plants ...
